Look Chub

I was so happy to find my favourite Thai dessert - Look Chub in a Thai restaurant in Parkway Parade, purely by accident! Even though it was so much more expensive here, I happily paid $3 for it even though there were only 10 pieces in the box.

But i was quite disappointed when i tried it. It's not as yummy as the ones in Bangkok and not as fresh.

Now I'm salivating over the ones in Bangkok again. The box below only costs me 20Baht (about $0.80) last year. I even remembered paying only 1Baht each during my trip in 1999.

Book - A Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult

Jodi Picoult is a good writer, this is the 2nd book of hers that I've read and I've enjoyed both.

Thought-provoking and engaging, even though I guessed the plot correctly right from the start. But that could purely be due to the fact that I've read too many books and watch too much TV.

Just cannot sit still

Over the years I've realised that I have a relatively short attention span and just cannot sit still.

I fidget a lot in the cinema, always changing position.
When I am doing work, i like to take short breaks in between
Take a snack, check my personal mail, play with facebook, blog....

Then i will feel guilty and quickly get back to what i'm doing.

Like right now!
Better get back to work!

Chopped it off

I like my new hairstyle... it's been awhile since I last had it short.
It was worth the 5 & a half hours - cutting, rebonding the fringe & highlighting.

The only thing is that the highlight is too dark, can't see much difference.
So would have to go back to re-do it....

But i still like my hair :D
And at least the highlighting will not need another 5 hours...

Faith

Have you ever lost faith?

I've believe I've been a good person...
But yet I don't seem to be able to get that little something that I yearn so much for.
Not that what I want is anything frivilous like a Gucci bag...

I wonder what else I can do...
Sometimes it's just so hard to keep that faith inside you...

For my wife... work has been increasing heavy these days... now with her colleague and boss flying so often, it's as good as one person covering the whole operations. To add to the "Challenge", the coming months are usually the busiest months of the year...

 

For me... work has been manageable... it's my school stuff again that is causing my stress level to shoot up... soooo many projects/assgs to complete... exams nearing preparation havent start...  sigh...

 

besides these, our personal commitments also there... sometimes really quite hard to juggle man...

 

Well always hopeful... always having something to look forward to...

our new target: Going for Self-Drive holiday in Tasmania !!! hee :D

 

the thought of that, makes all stress and worries go away... :D

 

Nightly beauty routine

TIP:
Put on your facial night cream at least 20 minutes before you sleep.

WHY:
The night cream needs time to be absorbed, otherwise it will all be rubbed off on your pillow when you sleep. What an awful waste!

Good read, very interesting story of how 2 people set up a business on something they are so passionate about - Travelling.

It's quite a wonder how the company has grown from 2 persons with not many a penny in their pockets, to the multi million dollar business it is today.

After seeing the pic on kw's blog, we decided it's time to sanitise our mattresses and sofa too.

Look at what a few swipes from the giant of a vacumn cleaner sucked up.... Yeeeee!!!!

J: Email her and say that my figures are diff from hers lor..

Dept head emailed back....
Immediately my phone rang again

C: Huh? What does she mean?
J: You have to ask her, not me!
C: But which figures should I use?
J: Ask her,"So should i use Jan's figures or yours?"
C: Ok i ask her
J: ??????

A colleague gave this to us for his daughter's one month old celebration.

Mondo shoes

I am officially a fan of Mondo shoes and their service.

Last week, i tried a pair when size 5 was too small and size 6 was too big.
The sales lady offered to stick the in-sole for the size 6.
I bought the shoes.

Yesterday when i tried on another pair, I had the same problem though size 5 seemed more suitable.
The sales lady expanded the shoe for me.
I bought the shoes.

Suan Lum Night Bazaar - CLOSING

Saw on the news that the Bangkok's Suan Lum Night Bazaar is closing and the 3000 over tenants have been asked to vacate to make way for a new development.

So sad, have been there twice and managed to get some pretty nice stuff....

Bye bye, hope they relocate and open up at another site.

got these really cheap at Bangkok. heard that a lot of teachers go there to stock up for children's day. They have all sorts of stationery but you have to buy in bulk

Yummy waffle at Gelare cafe

Shopping (and obviously cum eating) day out with the girls on Sat.

The waffle was delicious. Reminds me of the days of A&W waffles, but of course the ice cream flavours are much better at Gelare, and the chocolate sauce too! YUMMY!

Almost went home empty handed until I managed to buy a pair of shoes at Mondo! Happy liao! - jan
