Intouchables

Love this show! Highly recommended!

Taken from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1675434/:

In Paris, the aristocratic and intellectual Philippe is a quadriplegic millionaire who is interviewing candidates for the position of his carer, with his red-haired secretary Magalie. Out of the blue, the rude African Driss cuts the line of candidates and brings a document from the Social Security and asks Phillipe to sign it to prove that he is seeking a job position so he can receive his unemployment benefit. Philippe challenges Driss, offering him a trial period of one month to gain experience helping him. Then Driss can decide whether he would like to stay with him or not. Driss accepts the challenge and moves to the mansion, changing the boring life of Phillipe and his employees. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Harry Potter

Went for our annual GV Gold Class experience yesterday. And as always, we chose a Harry Potter movie. We went in the afternoon and thought we would have the whole theatre to ourselves. But there were about 10 other patrons around.

The movie was good! Better than the last 2 movies. Probably cos they could afford to follow the story quite closely this time, since there are 2 parts to this finale. Can wait for June 2011 for the next and final part!

Voyage De La Vie

It was a good performance! Our favourites were definitely Viktor Kee (a world famous juggler) and Alexey Goloborodko (a contortionist)! They were amazing!

Though we must admit that it's not as good as Cirque Du Soleil, but we still enjoyed it thoroughly. It's been awhile since we last went for any performances. And it was our first time at Resorts World though we only walked around the immediate area outside the theatre.

Movie - Up In The Air

"How much does your life weigh? Imagine for a second that you're carrying a backpack. I want you to pack it with all the stuff that you have in your life... you start with the little things. The shelves, the drawers, the knickknacks, then you start adding larger stuff. Clothes, tabletop appliances, lamps, your TV... the backpack should be getting pretty heavy now.

You go bigger. Your couch, your car, your home... I want you to stuff it all into that backpack. Now I want you to fill it with people. Start with casual acquaintances, friends of friends, folks around the office... and then you move into the people you trust with your most intimate secrets. Your brothers, your sisters, your children, your parents and finally your husband, your wife, your boyfriend, your girlfriend.

You get them into that backpack, feel the weight of that bag. Make no mistake your relationships are the heaviest components in your life. All those negotiations and arguments and secrets, the compromises. The slower we move the faster we die."

Movie - Ip Man 2

After a few other average movies, happy to have caught another good one - Ip Man 2! Though the storyline is pretty simple and predictable, the fighting is good. And it sure brings out the patriotic side of you!

Movie - The Blind Side

Another great must-watch movie! Really touching real story. It warms your heart to know that there are still such good, kind people out there who gives, without expecting anything in return. What I felt was even more touching was that it was not just her, but it was the whole family who accepted him without reservations.

Hee, so happy to have watched so many good movies recently :)

The Price of Beauty by Jessica Simpson

Though I've never been a big fan of Jessica Simpson, this new reality series really caught my eye. Jessica Simpson goes around the world to find out what is beauty to women in different cultures and what these women would do for beauty.

Caught an episode online today. Do you know that eating bugs like cockroaches speeds up your metabolism?? At least that is what they believe in Thailand!

PS: Warning - Try to overlook the bimbotic side of her, which unfortunately, still shows itself in the series :p

Sandra Bullock Files for Divorce? Rumor or Fact? BY: Michelle Lamar First Published: Mar 31 AT 5.20 pm

Did Sandra Bullock file for divorce from her loser husband, Jesse James? Or is it a rumor?

The Stir reports that the rumor is true and that their sources say Sandra has filed. There are other reports of Sandra filing for divorce but there has been no “official” confirmation that Bullock has filed.

RadarOnline reports that their experts say the “damage Jesse James has done” to his marriage is too big to repair and the celeb site hints that the marriage is pretty much over. RadarOnline interviewed sex addiction specialists who weighed in on the situation. Dr. Bethany Marshall told the celebrity website:

In this case, the damage is so great, it can’t be repaired. And that’s when it’s too much, when the damage and the humiliation is profound. He [Jesse] humiliated Sandra publicly. In this case, the cheating came out as she was achieving her greatest success, which suggests envy and a wish to tear her down, and that’s going to be evident in other aspects of their relationship as well.

Hachiko

The real Hachiko

In 1924, Hachikō was brought to Tokyo by his owner, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo. During his owner's life Hachikō saw him off from the front door and greeted him at the end of the day at the nearby Shibuya Station. The pair continued their daily routine until May 1925, when Professor Ueno did not return on the usual train one evening. The professor had suffered a stroke at the university that day. He died and never returned to the train station where his friend was waiting.

Hachikō was given away after his master's death, but he routinely escaped, showing up again and again at his old home. Eventually, Hachikō apparently realized that Professor Ueno no longer lived at the house. So he went to look for his master at the train station where he had accompanied him so many times before. Each day, Hachikō waited for Professor Ueno to return. And each day he did not see his friend among the commuters at the station.

The permanent fixture at the train station that was Hachikō attracted the attention of other commuters. Many of the people who frequented the Shibuya train station had seen Hachikō and Professor Ueno together each day. They brought Hachikō treats and food to nourish him during his wait.

This continued for 10 years, with Hachikō appearing only in the evening time, precisely when the train was due at the station.

Singapore's Kaya Toast @ the Emmy Party

I was pretty amused to know that Singapore's Kaya Toast will be one of the dishes at the Emmy Party. And it is introduced as a hangover food!
