Mark or Matt?

Admit it... you are confused....

Matt Damon? Or Mark Wahlberg?

Actually I'm not. But I always tease my hubby as he remembers them as one who starred in The Italian Job and one who starred in The Bourne Trilogy.

11 Jan 2009 - Our Anniversary

Every year right after christmas and new year, the next occasion we are looking forward is always our Anniversary!

Nothing elaborate, like my wife always reminded me each year, that we dont need to have any big celebration. We only need to spend some quality time together. That's all that really matters. It's true!

Well, we went for a treat to ourselves. 2 Gold Class Tickets to the 2 hours and 45 mins show AUSTRALIA. I thought it was a great movie to catch for our anniversary, given the fact that it's sort of like a love story... :) It was really a great show. We both enjoyed it so much! And most of all, we got to enjoy the gold class seats and services early this year. Each time we will always wait for a great show like Harry Porter before going to catch a movie at the GV gold class ... But I felt that this year I wanted to give my wife an earlier treat!

Thereafter, haha... driving all the way to Sunset way for the infamous Daily Scoop. After the satisfying ice cream, it's time for our nap! yes NAP! we headed straight home to rest. :D :D

As for dinner... it's been a long time since we went back to Hard Rock Cafe. As usual... we ordered a whole table full of food... end up we couldn't finish it all... but no matter how full we are, we will definitely get the chilli crab dip down !!! :D

Sis' Birthday

The feast that mum had been preparing since 230pm that day. All of which are of course my sis' favourites - deep fried prawns, fried chicken wings etc etc

Third Hand Smoke

That’s the term being used to describe the invisible yet toxic brew of gases and particles clinging to smokers’ hair and clothing, not to mention cushions and carpeting, that lingers long after second-hand smoke has cleared from a room. The residue includes heavy metals, carcinogens and even radioactive materials that young children can get on their hands and ingest, especially if they’re crawling or playing on the floor.

Doctors from MassGeneral Hospital for Children in Boston coined the term “third-hand smoke” to describe these chemicals in a new study that focused on the risks they pose to infants and children. The study was published in this month’s issue of the journal Pediatrics.

Jen Fai's first day of school

Getting ready to leave for school

Back from school! Happiness!

Sakuraya

If you love sashimi, you must visit Sakuraya, it is so fresh and at such affordable prices!

We paid only $13 for the salmon sashimi shown in the pic. It would have easily cost us at least $20 in any other restaurants. PLUS! It was so fresh! The total meal only came up to about $68 for 4 persons and that included salmon and scallop. Yummy!!

Seats are limited at the Buona Vista outlet so it's good to be there early.

New Year's Eve dinner

Ushering in the 2009 New Year with a HUAT AH!!!

Had a sumptuous steamboat dinner with my brothers and sisters... whatever you can think of in terms of food, we had it! Pure crab stick that cost $11.80 for just a few sticks! Fresh Scallops... Fresh prawns from the wet market! Delicious Sliced beef that you always get in a steamboat... Of course, not forgetting the deserts especially when the girls all had a separate stomach for that even when they were so full !!! Durian and Apple strudel from Ritz... YUM YUM! Sunset way Daily Scoop ice cream !!! SHIOK SHIOK! We were all so damn full after the whole thing... BUT it was AWESOME !!!

We had a Moet & Chandon "countdown" "sync" with the Channel 5 party! So while channel 5 was counting down, Ben was trying his best to get in sync (that explained why he keeps turning his head in the video). With the New Year here, may everyone of us "tio TOTO, tio BEI PIO" HUAT AH !!!

Guess what! After dinner, we decided to start "Chinese New Year Celebrations" earlier! All of us sat down and started playing the infamous game "IN-BETWEEN" ! Probably because it's been such a long time we played this game! We had SO MUCH Fun and Laughter that we didnt even realise when it was already 3AM !!! Finally succumbed to the "cries of our body" we decided to rest... BUT we shall continue when Chinese New Year is here!

Party crasher

This little kitty suddenly wandered into our house. It was so affectionate, rubbing itself against our legs and not protesting at all when we carried it to get it away from our food.

We gave it some food, thinking it was hungry. But the kitty ended up playing with the food instead of eating it.

Note how it is totally oblivious to our house dog, who failed miserably in its duty to chase away any strangers in our home.

Escape Theme Park

Brought my nephew to Escape Theme Park for his 6th Birthday.

The place is rather small and definitely more suitable for kids. But I'm sure Jen Fai had some a good time there :)

Our Annual Lunch @ Hoshi on Xmas Day

our sixth year! the same restaurant! our annual lunch! almost the same food! but no more same seats though! as usual... one thing will never change! the sweetness!

almost couldnt make it. we had to go for some prayers to my granny, thought we had to give it a miss this year. but luckily the prayers were arranged to be in the morning and ended just nice for lunch.

it's always sweet to go back there. in addition, they had really made over everything.. their restaurant outlook, design, and even menu... We were spoilt for choice and had to flip the menu a couple of times before we could decide what we want to eat... :)

a quiet xmas... @ Delima Singapore

due to some domestic matters at home...no major gathering this year. all we had, and good enough, was a self-cooked dinner with my brothers & sisters... Self-cooked dinner and DAMN DELICIOUS man !!! all thanks to my brothers and sisters... both my wife and myself felt so "useless"... all we did were simply to open our mouth and EAT!!! the food was really GREAT !!!

My new toy

I never thought I would switch away from Nokia, but I found a phone that made me do just that!

The Samsung Pixon - A touchpad phone with a 8 Megapixel camera!
Some call it the Camera with phone features :p
Well, I'm loving it so far!
Hope I won't be disappointed as I continue to use it....

Thanks my dear hubby for the lovely present!

A Jazzy Christmas by Jeremy Monteiro

Every year during the Christmas season, we always look forward to attending the Jazzy Christmas concert by Jeremy Monteiro. This is the 3rd time we have attended this and we still love it!

We especially loved the harmonica playing by his special guest, Mr Toots Thielemans. Even at the age of 86, he is still considered the world's best harmonica player!

Already looking forward to next year's concert!!

The time has come...

All this while, my family has been preparing ourselves that grandma is probably "going" soon. Given that she's 98 yrs old, and towards the end she was already in a pretty bad shape, we somehow knew she might not be able to make it through chinese new year...

Last friday, she finally gave in and decided that it's time to go. She passed away peacefully in SGH after hospitalised for almost 2 weeks. In her 2 weeks stay, she was on drip because she couldn't swallow anymore. And she was also on breathing support due to her weak pulse and lung dysfunction.

We had a 7 day funeral for her, taken into consideration that my dad was a 5 day affair previously. According to our custom, my grandma will need 2 more days than my dad. Thought it was long, it went off like a flash. Probably we were too busy with the things involved in funeral that time just slipped by unknowingly.

Towards the end, we were all feeling sad that this day has truly arrived. The only way to console ourselves is that, it's good to know that she's no longer suffering. Through this event, we also realised how much we were missing dad... over the past 1 to 2 years, our families have gone through so many funerals... we were flipping our photos, and were sad that so many loved ones in the pictures are no longer here... That only reinenforced the fact that time is precious... going off by the seconds... do not waste them and spend more time with your loved ones. Not next week, not tom, but today!

btw... my family wanted to check if grandma came home on the seventh day... They pour flour all over the house to see if there are any footprints... here's a pic. Can you see the foot print... there were 2!!!

Some Christmas goodies i received today.... Looks too yummy to eat!

short yet v x 2 shiok !

Always shunned the idea of going batam. What's there? nothing interesting la, blah blah blah... Somehow if it's a long-awaited break, and with a bunch of buddies especially, regardless where you go, it will definitely be fun-filled and AWESOME !

Imagine doing nothing... laze by the pool... swim a little, tan a little... time for dinner, let's go have a seafood feast that was so dirt cheap... Not Enuf??? NEVERmind, TA PAO (and that's exactly what we did!). back in the cosy hotel room... of course! "What time is it" it's tiger time! + Continue eating the crabs, calamari and licking your fingers while enjoying some movies or music in the background !!! :D :D :D

well, besides lazing around... the girls went for a spa retreat. And guess what! It was so refreshing and rejuvenating that they wish they could squeeze some time to go for more. Price?? cheap also la !!!

it was a very enjoying and relaxing trip. We truly enjoyed it... and we are already planning to go back in the very near future... :D

here are a couple of pics taken during the trip. But somehow despite how much we enjoyed ourselves... we kept feeling that somehow, something is not complete... we were missing someone!

see that empty spot in the picture??
