Not another big meal

It's just been non stop eating these few days - wed dinner, thurs lunch, fri lunch and another big one tonight.... birthdays, farewells. Any excuse for a good meal :p

Went to The Bridge at the Singapore Yacht Club for a farewell lunch. It's a private club but the restaurant is open to public on weekdays for lunch. Nice view but it was so hot as our colleague chose the non-aircon seating. Food was good too, though i think i enjoyed the salad buffet more than the main course - jan

My nephew's test paper

He scored full marks in a class test today! He was so proud of it and he deserves to be too!

By the way, he's only in K1... already having tests...

Old fashioned lanterns

I've always liked these old fashion lanterns. The battery operated ones pale in comparison with these.

But I suspect we've enjoyed playing with the candles and fire more than the actual lantern itself :p

Kaisan: Fine Dining at a Fine Price

JO and PH treated me to dinner last night. The food was execllent especially the sushi! I usually stick to salmon when it comes to raw fish, but the sushi they served last night looked so fresh that I couldn't resist the temptation to have all 7 (or was it 8??) pieces. I'm so full I skipped breakfast this morning :p

Thumbs up overall, would definitely recommend it :)

Looking pale

Quite a number have commented recently that i look pale...

Decided to start taking multi vitamins again. My hubby said it's also due to lack of exercise :(

I stopped some time back when i read an article on how damaging it is if various vitamins accumulate in your body when they are not being used. Has anyone come across such an article? - jan

Book - The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult

The Tenth Circle: A Novel

Fiction - An excellent read, with many unexpected twists and turns that will keep you going. This novel tells the story of how an American girl was sexually assualted and how the family, especially the father's fierce father-love, dealt with the whole situation

Book - Do They Hear You When You Cry

I've stopped reading for so long. But I'm glad I've picked it up again after the last Harry Potter book. I'm now making a conscious effort to pick up the habit again.

A true story of an African lady who fled her country to escape her traditional relatives, who wanted to force her into a marriage as the 4th wife of an elderly man and to go through the ancient practice of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). It tells of her experiences when she tried to seek asylum in US, how badly she was treated and humiliated. Only through the perseverance of a law student and many other advocates, she was set free years later and her case served as a landmark case for for many future asylum cases.

does this require green fingers?

The seeds were given to us for planting during the environmental week in the office. I've never been successful at any form of planting but this seems to be turning out quite well, with even some visible new shoots. Have been looking at it every day to see how much it has grown. Not bad huh - jan

Kids these days....

I asked my nephew sometime back,"Would you like to have a baby brother or sister to play with you?"

I prepared replies to 4 answers I thought he would give me; I want a baby brother; I want a baby sister; I don't mind a baby brother or sister; I don't want any baby brother or sister.

Little did I expect his answer to be - I wan a "Kor Kor"
(translated: Kor Kor = an elder brother)

Went to St James Power Station last week with some colleagues last Friday. Gosh! It's been so long... had a "hangover" on saturday, not from alcohol since I didn't have any, but from tiredness! Gone were the days when we used to party non stop till 3am!

The ladies are talking abt Ministry of Sound this Friday!!... The fever is on! - jan

Exploring...

Testing my new camera's Macro function...
what do you think?
Not bad huh... :-O

Yet another sinful way to end the day

Ha, though we vowed last week to say "NO" to sinful stuff after our routine exercise... we just couldn't help it when we were deciding where to go for dinner. Ended up in Alexander Village to taste the famous Bak Kut Tea, with a plate of "O' Luak" to compliment it. Though it's a lot cheaper than our Crab feast, but it's just as bad and definitely just as sinful... ;-D

Blur blur cutie

Like KW said, Tong allows anyone to carry but will look quite "blur" so I can never get a smiley picture of him. Only his mummy is able to capture smiley laughing pics of Tong :D

Crab Crab Crab... Oishii !

btw... the crabs we were talking about... butter crab, chilli crab and especially the Crab Bee Hoon Soup (螃蟹米粉汤) ... it was awfully... and exceptionally... fresh and delicious...! OISHII !!! A definite must try... Last night we were still salivating about the crabs before we turn in... yum yum. zzz...zzz...zzz... hee :D

Badminton Aftermath..

Ha ha, finally get to spend time doing absolutely nothing... lazing around thru the day (feeling a bit guilty though that Jan is at work hee:D). It's been a while since i get to stay home and idle. Imagine... nice weather, nice bed, nice book, nice drink and nice background music...wooo... what a day to relax!
(or it's just an excuse to minimise my movement so that i dont feel the ache over my body, which seems to tell me that I havent't been exercising enough... hee :D)

New broom sweeps clean

Jan's new bag taken with my new camera - Ant :)

Busy but very fruitful weekend

Went shopping yesterday. Went round and round looking for them but it was all worth it! And we both got our early presents from each other.

I found the perfect white bag I've been wanting. And Ant finally got the camera he's been waiting for, for the longest time too - Fuji F31! Had to go round looking for it as it's a discontinued model already. But after trying the newer models, he still preferred this. Think he will kept be quite busy fiddling with it soon.

Went for a round of badminton today and then to AMK for the famous crab with Ant's friends. We've all vowed to stop eating such sinful stuff after exercising! No more next week! - jan :)
