Inspired

Do you know that Japs not only sort their trash for recycling, they even go to the extent of cutting up their milk cartons, washing them, hanging them up to dry and then adding it to the paper recycling pile?

Everyone in the neighbourhood does it and they all cut it in a standard way so that it can be stacked together and tied up.

Why so many questions

Top 3 questions asked of me since I've stopped working:

1) Are you working yet?
2) So what do you do every day?
3) Aren't you bored?

My answers - No; I do whatever I feel like doing; No.

On the news

"The more you smoke, the more your sperm gets burnt.
The more you drink, the more your sperm gets drunk."

- Commented by an expert on last night's news on an exhibition about couples trying to conceive.

Soccer

I've never understood the fascination with 22 men running after 1 ball. Even though my dad used to be a national soccer player, back when most of you where not even born, back in the sixties.

My dad has many newspapers articles that have grown yellow with age, I decided to do a search online and found some short articles from http://newspapers.nl.sg/

He was already playing for Malaysia before Singapore's independence in 1965.

A defender, but constantly scored goals too.

And I was especially tickled by this article :p

Now is to find a day to go down to National Library to search the Chinese papers and find the article on my parent's wedding :)

Technology

I used my hubby's iPhone to search for an address of a shop. Then used my phone camera to take a picture of the result.

Even though I was at home.

Oh the wonders of technology.

A nice day at home

With the help of the nutmeg and paprika powder (thanks KW for the tip!), and larger pieces of garlic so they don't burn so easily, finally got quite a tasty dish of Spaghetti Aglio Olio for my lunch. Yeah!

And since it was such a nice rainy day yesterday, I soon settled down at our cosy corner with a book and a drink. If only the weather was cold enough for a nice hot steaming cup of cocoa :)

Movie - The Blind Side

Another great must-watch movie! Really touching real story. It warms your heart to know that there are still such good, kind people out there who gives, without expecting anything in return. What I felt was even more touching was that it was not just her, but it was the whole family who accepted him without reservations.

Hee, so happy to have watched so many good movies recently :)

Image of Singaporeans

On a documentry "Border Security" on cable, it features the challenges and different situations that the Australia customs go through daily.

When they interviewed one of the customs officer on why they found a particular Singaporean suspicious, the officer cited this as one of the reasons:

"We know that Singaporeans seldom have tattoos."

I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry...

Jap - update

We've completed our 7th Jap lesson today. And for the first time, I was totally lost in the middle of the lesson. I could not follow what the teacher was saying. And for the first time, I wonder if I dare to move on to take the next level.

Otherwise, it has definitely been enjoyable. And so proud of myself when i can read some of the jap words myself! What an achievement!

BUT still a looooong way to go. さようなら for now!

Created by my nephew using Powerpoint. He was very quick to pick it up after my sis showed him some basic skills :)

By the way, the name was given by Jen Fai himself.
