Escape Theme Park

Brought my nephew to Escape Theme Park for his 6th Birthday.

The place is rather small and definitely more suitable for kids. But I'm sure Jen Fai had some a good time there :)

Our Annual Lunch @ Hoshi on Xmas Day

our sixth year! the same restaurant! our annual lunch! almost the same food! but no more same seats though! as usual... one thing will never change! the sweetness!

almost couldnt make it. we had to go for some prayers to my granny, thought we had to give it a miss this year. but luckily the prayers were arranged to be in the morning and ended just nice for lunch.

it's always sweet to go back there. in addition, they had really made over everything.. their restaurant outlook, design, and even menu... We were spoilt for choice and had to flip the menu a couple of times before we could decide what we want to eat... :)

a quiet xmas... @ Delima Singapore

due to some domestic matters at home...no major gathering this year. all we had, and good enough, was a self-cooked dinner with my brothers & sisters... Self-cooked dinner and DAMN DELICIOUS man !!! all thanks to my brothers and sisters... both my wife and myself felt so "useless"... all we did were simply to open our mouth and EAT!!! the food was really GREAT !!!

My new toy

I never thought I would switch away from Nokia, but I found a phone that made me do just that!

The Samsung Pixon - A touchpad phone with a 8 Megapixel camera!
Some call it the Camera with phone features :p
Well, I'm loving it so far!
Hope I won't be disappointed as I continue to use it....

Thanks my dear hubby for the lovely present!

A Jazzy Christmas by Jeremy Monteiro

Every year during the Christmas season, we always look forward to attending the Jazzy Christmas concert by Jeremy Monteiro. This is the 3rd time we have attended this and we still love it!

We especially loved the harmonica playing by his special guest, Mr Toots Thielemans. Even at the age of 86, he is still considered the world's best harmonica player!

Already looking forward to next year's concert!!

The time has come...

All this while, my family has been preparing ourselves that grandma is probably "going" soon. Given that she's 98 yrs old, and towards the end she was already in a pretty bad shape, we somehow knew she might not be able to make it through chinese new year...

Last friday, she finally gave in and decided that it's time to go. She passed away peacefully in SGH after hospitalised for almost 2 weeks. In her 2 weeks stay, she was on drip because she couldn't swallow anymore. And she was also on breathing support due to her weak pulse and lung dysfunction.

We had a 7 day funeral for her, taken into consideration that my dad was a 5 day affair previously. According to our custom, my grandma will need 2 more days than my dad. Thought it was long, it went off like a flash. Probably we were too busy with the things involved in funeral that time just slipped by unknowingly.

Towards the end, we were all feeling sad that this day has truly arrived. The only way to console ourselves is that, it's good to know that she's no longer suffering. Through this event, we also realised how much we were missing dad... over the past 1 to 2 years, our families have gone through so many funerals... we were flipping our photos, and were sad that so many loved ones in the pictures are no longer here... That only reinenforced the fact that time is precious... going off by the seconds... do not waste them and spend more time with your loved ones. Not next week, not tom, but today!

btw... my family wanted to check if grandma came home on the seventh day... They pour flour all over the house to see if there are any footprints... here's a pic. Can you see the foot print... there were 2!!!

short yet v x 2 shiok !

Always shunned the idea of going batam. What's there? nothing interesting la, blah blah blah... Somehow if it's a long-awaited break, and with a bunch of buddies especially, regardless where you go, it will definitely be fun-filled and AWESOME !

Imagine doing nothing... laze by the pool... swim a little, tan a little... time for dinner, let's go have a seafood feast that was so dirt cheap... Not Enuf??? NEVERmind, TA PAO (and that's exactly what we did!). back in the cosy hotel room... of course! "What time is it" it's tiger time! + Continue eating the crabs, calamari and licking your fingers while enjoying some movies or music in the background !!! :D :D :D

well, besides lazing around... the girls went for a spa retreat. And guess what! It was so refreshing and rejuvenating that they wish they could squeeze some time to go for more. Price?? cheap also la !!!

it was a very enjoying and relaxing trip. We truly enjoyed it... and we are already planning to go back in the very near future... :D

here are a couple of pics taken during the trip. But somehow despite how much we enjoyed ourselves... we kept feeling that somehow, something is not complete... we were missing someone!

see that empty spot in the picture??

No more free flow of bread

We were at Cedele (Wheelock) yesterday evening.

They used to provide free flow of bread, and there were also a few types of bread to choose from. However, last night they only had one choice of bread. And we now have to pay $4.50 per table in order to enjoy the free flow. Plus they only gave the table one plate and one small packet of butter...

It's not a lot of money. But nevertheless... i wasn't very happy about it....

Dinner at Spageddies

We went to Spageddies at Marina Square for my hubby's birthday dinner. It was GOOD italian food! :)

The Tomato Basil Bruschetta was nice, we digged in immediately and then realised we forgot to snap a pic, so here is the other half of it :p

My hubby took the Seafood Sizzlelini and it was really good. Seafood was fresh and the spaghetti was nicely flavoured.

I took the Crayfish & Tenderloin Combo. I especially liked the way they did the crayfish together with the mozerella, it was a really good combination. And of course my favourite sphagetti with olive oil.

A thoroughly enjoyable meal!!

Cheap thrill

"Oh you are students ah..."

What was our response?
We just smiled and nodded our heads!

Hahahahaha... so happy! :p

Book - Marley & Me

Oh let's just say i totally loved this book. Thoroughly enjoyed it throughout. Yes i admit, I am a die hard dog lover and this book just pulled at my heartstrings.

I couldn't resist reading snipperts of it to my hubby as i giggled to myself at the funny parts. I couldn't help tearing too, especially at the last part. Isn't it always the most dificult? When you lose your pet, it's literally like losing a family member. It breaks your heart...

This Min - Sleepy... Next Min - awake and SURPRISED

a usual morning starts with a "Yawn"... !

7.30am: " wake up baby... time to wake up!!!." said my wife.
7.30am: " okie baby...yawnnnn..." Reply from me.
7.35am: As usual... drag myself to the toilet for my shower.
7.45am: As I opened the Toilet door, found my Wife standing outside the door with a cake and went: "Happy birthday day to you, happy birthday to you.........." followed by a KISS !
7.46am: So awake and surprised!!! "heeheeheeheeheehee.... THANK YOU BABY !!! "

What a pleasant surprise and a day to wake up to !!!

It's my birthday again... how time flies! My wife kept telling me... nothing planned, no big party know... Actually, I have got this pleasant surprise in the morning and all I wanted for the rest of the day is to just spend time with my wife. That's all that matters isnt it? Spending time with your loved one is all that matters!

Thank you baby! I had a wonderful surprise, a sumptuous, delicious dinner, a nice libra cup as a token (waiting patiently for my HP present), a lovely card, and most importantly I had my wife's company. :) There is nothing more I could ever ask for!

Book - The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

A very touching true story written by a top French editor, who suffered a massive stroke. Though he survived, he became physically paralysed with "locked-in syndrome", which meant that he lost all movement in his body except for his left eye, which became his only form of communication.

He wrote this entire memoir with the help of his assistant, who would read the alphabets to him, and he would blink when the right letter is reached. He tells of his life as a victim to the syndrome, the thoughts that go through his head -"full of humor and devoid of self pity" (quoted in one of the reviews). He died of heart failure 2 days after the book was published.

"an ma"

"An Ma! An Ma! An Ma! An MA!!! AN MA!!! AN MA!!!! AN MA!!!!"

That's about the number of times Tong was shouting for me outside the toilet door today.

And that's how he calls me... without the "G" in front...

So cute!!! :)

Sun with Moon restaurant

Went to Sun with Moon (Wheelock Place) for dinner with Liz. It was very yummy!

I usually just take the claypot rice, which is good too. But this time we decided to order a few dishes and share, which was an excellent idea!

4 Oct - My Bday!

It's bday time again! As my fren commented, i can't believe my hubby still managed to surprise me on my bday!

Somehow, he managed to pack all the nescessary stuff and "whisked" me off to Marina Mandarin for a nite's stay. I was COMPLETELY caught off guard. But it was a really sweet surprise! And definitely a very welcome break!

We went to Sentosa for dinner to catch the Jazz By the Beach event. Although it was not exectly what we were expecting, it was still a nice change from the usual restaurant dinners.

Thanks bie for a wonderful bday!!

F1 Fever

Weather: Warm and humid
Road: Dry
Vision: Clear
Crowd Size: Pretty Crazy

Speed: Almost 300 km/hr

First night race in Formular 1 history... got some complimentary tickets... Both of us never been to a F1 race before, or rather not even an actual race. Set out with the intention to check it out.

When reached City Hall, we were "welcomed" by the crowd size!!! forgotten to bring along ear plugs (do we really need this?), went to a couple of Guardians... All SOLD OUT !!!

Luckily there are people selling "F1 Survival Kit" at the entrance for $2 a pack. It comes with a poncho and ear plugs (do we really really need this?).

At first we were wandering around the "F1 Village", until we managed to find a nice spot for a view. Took some pictures, but the cars are toooo fast. I guess that's the reason why you see professional with HUGE lenses!!! Uploaded a video too man! It was quite thrilling and fun surprisingly. But I guess you would be more comfortable sitting in the grandstand. Standing there for hours is no joke.

And you know what??? You really need EAR PLUGS!!! Their F1 engine roarssssssssssss. So xxxx loud that it could break your ear drum. :-D

First ever Cousins only gathering

We had a first ever cousins gathering from my dad's side of the family.
It was pretty awesome that 18 out of the 22 cousins actually turned up!

It all started when our 老大 started asking how many cousins there were in total and who was older and who was younger.

Our organiser even prepared "exam questions" and we found out some interesting facts.
- There is an exactly 1:1 ratio of males to females;
- That the age difference between the eldest and youngest is 30 years;
- The youngest cousin is the same age as the oldest kid of the next generation;
- And at last count, there are altogether 32 kids in the next generation!

Hope there will be more such gatherings in the future! :)

Working 9 to 5

Workin' 9 to 5,
What a way to make a livin'
Barely gettin' by
It's all takin' and no givin'
They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you crazy
If you let it
9 to 5, for service and devotion
You would think that I
Would deserve a fat promotion
Want to move ahead
But the boss won't seem to let me
I swear sometimes that man is out to get me

They let you dream
Just to watch 'em shatter
You're just a step
On the boss-man's ladder
But you got dreams
He'll never take away
You're in the same boat
With a lotta your friends
Waitin' for the day your ship'll come in
'N' the tide's gonna turn
And it's all gonna roll your way

*Lyrics from Dolly Parton's song

Book - Yakuza Moon by Shoko Tendo

This book was easy to read and strangely engaging for me. I read about half of it in one seating and finished the rest by the next day.

Though not extremely well written, even admitted by the author herself, the simple language makes it easy to read. The story iss probably representative of what a lot of gangs in different countries face. But maybe because of the beautiful image of Japan that many of us have, it's hard to believe this side of their country. And more sadly for this author, who was so badly abused physically and sexually. I've heard of this side of Japanese men before and it's not a nice feeling to actually read true encounters. It all seems so "two-faced".
