Debbie Travis' Facelift

One of my favorite designs from Debbie Travis' Facelift program.

She used a scene from a photograph and had it blown up and pasted on the kicthen cabinet doors. Such a simple idea transformed into such a beautiful design...

Mud pie

Finally satisfied my craving for NYDC mud pie last night. Really yummy as usual, even managed to finish everything!

Was so eager to dig in once it was served, I forgot to snap a pic :p

London

Eve is now in London, on a 2 year work and travel visa. Really admire her for the courage and determination to go pursue her dream. Something that is quite unthinkable for me, for I would never dare to venture into the unknown like this.

But glad she's having fun! Browsing her photos lets us share her experience too. Was quite tickled at the various signs put up at her hostel kitchen :)

Unconditional Love

"I know a lot about love.... You could search to the furthest reaches of the universe and never find anything more beautiful.... Is this love?..... My heart... It feels like my chest can barely contain it. Like it's trying to escape because it doesn't belong to me anymore. It belongs to you. And if you wanted it, I'd wish for nothing in exchange - no gifts. No goods. No demonstrations of devotion. Nothing but knowing you loved me too. Just your heart, in exchange for mine."

- Yvaine in the movie Stardust

21 May - 2nd Wedding Anniversary

We had a relatively quiet celebration this year. Went for dinner at Al Dante at Esplanade. We had always liked this place as we get to sit at the rooftop, enjoy a nice breeze and the beautiful night view.

Then we adjourned for my favourite meal - Dessert! Went to Max Brenner's Chocolate Bar.

Simple celebration - with the Bintan trip being the "present" to ourselves, and with our presents for each other both"on the way".... hee...

But it's been awhile since we last took time out like this to go dating, so this was good enough for us - some quality time spent together :)

Yummy HK dim sum

Thanks to Eve's good recommendation, we went for some yummy HK dim sum at Victor's Kitchen @ Sunshine Plaza after our exercise session.

I really liked the Stocking Milk Tea (though the name sounds a little.... )

Too bad you weren't here Eve - you were definitely missed! August asked for a table for 6 automatically, before realising you were not around :P

Ichiban Sushi

One cuisine i will never get sick of... Japanese!

Lobster salad sushi - very yummy!

Have been a big fan of Ichiban sushi ever since I received such bad service at Sakae Sushi. Mmmmmm :)

3 days leave = 10 days away?

My friend took 3 days leave to go for a holiday.

On the day before she was supposed to go on leave,
her boss asked if she has done her handover since she is going to be away for 10 days...

The ugly Singaporean

I know this topic has been discussed to death... and endlessly too
I've been really irked by some of the ways Singaporeans behave.

This incident I had personally witnessed last week:
At a fast food outlet, a young couple had finished the meal, leaving their table in a mess.
They walked away and was holding a drink that was inside a paper bag.
The guy decided to do away with the bag.
He conveniently left it on an empty table a few steps away from theirs.

==> Expecting them to clear the table may be too much to ask for... but how about leaving all your rubbish on the tray so that it is easier for the staff to clear??
==> Is it so difficult to take that extra few steps and throw the bag into a rubbish bin instead??

Mr Bean pancake

My breakfast - yummy pancake from Mr Bean.

My hubby always laugh at me, that something so small can fill my stomach. He said my stomach is like the size of the pancake :p

Love is when he steams the pancake for you in the morning, cos he knows it'll taste nicer, without you having to tell him.... - jan

though 55 mins away... not a bad experience afterall !

Always hear people talking about Bintan this, Bintan that. Finally had a chance to go experience ourselves.

Actually Bintan is only 55 mins away from sg, which probably explains why we dont particularly felt like we are in overseas... :) Our journey started off pretty "choppy"... probably too long never take ferry liao. felt abit giddy leh! (old liao old liao)

When we arrived at the resort, we were welcomed by the resort dancers. It felt good when they welcomed you with their traditional dance (i guess) and a drink to quench your thirst. Bintan lagoon resort was really big, equipped with almost all kind of facilities. Well, the food was not very fantastic though. But overall quite ok la. The resort was nice... nice beach, nice pool... weather was great... had a very cosy room... etc. oh ya... We had a nice romantic dinner by the beach... It was overall a great 3D2N getaway. Everything was great except the "price" la! wa seh... things there are not cheap man...especially the food. The menu are simply in sing dollars. And guess what... they dont bother to tell you that it's in sing dollars ok! well... since we are there... dont bother la. :) spend first... pinch later !!! anyway this trip was meant to be a wedding anniversary gift for the both of us... :D

Bintan lagoon rating: 1 to 5 (1 - bad to 5 - good)
Beach: 4
Lagoon resort outlook: 4
Room quality and cleaniness: 4
Resort Facilities: 4
Pasar oleh oleh: 2 (the small little pasar in the "city" was quite miserable. you only need 10 mins to finish the whole pasar.)
Food quality in resort: 3.5 (heard some resorts like nirwana has great seafood.)
Prices there: 2 (better budget more. dont think it's cheap huh.)

明天会更好

It's been such a strange day (read: strange as in not good)...
where you experience all sorts of feelings, all within a day.

Lost, unmotivated, disappointed, wondering & questioning yourself
idiocy, awkward, unbelieving, sad...

Can only hope that tomorrow will be better?
It better be! - jan

Peishi's wedding

2 may 08 - Peishi & Jiajun's wedding

It was a full day of activities. Started with a beautiful corsage for the jie meis. And then.... the groom was about half an hour late. Ok ok, we believe you.... it was traffic right? Just don't forget your 10 commandments to Peishi :)

The solemnization and the dinner were beautiful.... and i'm so happy for Peishi, one of my dearest dearest friend, happy that she has found her someone, her one and only to spend the rest of their lives together!

And after it was all over, i finally had the chance to take out my camera for a pic

Finally time to go away and join another Circus !!!

30th Apr 08 marked the end of my journey with Ciba... or rather Unisys. I will be joining another company this coming mid May. That would means I can no longer "easily" go over to my wife's side to see her... not to mention to easily arrange for lunch anytime I like...

Looking back... I have been with Ciba for almost 6 years. ya... time really flies. Though excited to explore greener pastures, I'm somewhat sad to leave this wonderful workplace. Maybe because this place is where I met my wife... got married...so called a "Ciba Marriage". This definitely adds to the emotional attachment I have with the company. Other than this, the culture, the environment, and the people especially, were all nice and warm. You can really feel that you belong to a "happy family". sad to say... It's definitely not easy to be able to "tumble" across such a nice working environment.

Actually both my wife and I knew all along that this day will come, where we will work in separate offices. Perhaps I am still living in a dream hoping that how nice if there would be a "perfect" place, where you meet nice people, appreciative bosses and nice environment, with great career advancement and best part, your wife is there. That's probably not the reality.

So too bad... there are always times where we have to get out of our comfort zone and do something challenging. I guess this time has come for me.

Confident, Prepared, and Excited to face these challenges! Wish me luck! - Ant
