Happy Holiday

wow, so fast Christmas has come and gone. Probably been busy with gatherings, that's why it has flown by so quickly. Ate a lot… Opened presents here and there… And we managed to spend some quality time together. Before we realise it, the New Year will fly by too and we will soon step into 2007! We're now scrambling to get our accomodation settled and hopefully be able to fly off to Bangkok next week on 4 Jan 2007. We've been waiting one year for this trip! Supposed to have gone earlier this year in Jan 2006, unfortunately Jan had her slipped disc condition.

Here's wishing all of you out there - Have a great 2007 ahead! May all your wildest dreams come true! See you next year! - Us

It's been so long....

Hi!! It's been so long since our last post! So sorry about that! Life's been busy busy busy.... Ant has just finished his exams and now we've both quite tied down with work.

Looking forward to the festive season indeed... so many things lined up for next week! Dinner gatherings with friends, going for the "Jazzy Christmas" performance at the Esplanade and also for us to spend some quality time together. We MUST go back to Hoshi on Christmas day for lunch - cos this is where we had our very first lunch date together 3 years ago (How time has flown!!!)! We missed it last year due to my slipped disc condition...
Will try to update more regularly next year!!

So MERRY CHRISTMAS & A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! Enjoy this festive holiday season and have a good start to the brand new year! - jan

Our Wedding Day...

Finally… our wedding day went by smoothly as planned. All big thanks to our fantastic friends, who had to double up as helpers on that day… we owe you one guys!! We feel that the wedding day pictures were very well taken and we are exceptionally happy with the album itself. It was great work done by our photographer… we are now waiting for the video… it will probably be ready in another few weeks time… meanwhile just enjoy the online pictures… we will bring along albums when we meetup with you guys again…

Back from our honeymoon... :)

Yes…we are back from our 12 days Switzerland and Italy honeymoon… as you may be speculating… there is no ‘made in Switzerland’ nor ‘made in Italy’ ok… regarding our honeymoon…only one word can explain it all… ‘Awesome’… it was really a great holiday…filled with delicious food… extremely nice ice cream… very cooling weather… 10 to 15 degrees on land… 0 degrees when in the mountain…
Switzerland was a beauty… full of Swiss alps and beautiful sceneries… until now… we are still wishing we were still there… our favourite place is Zermatt… the home of the mighty Matterhorn… that place was amazing… very relaxing and pollution free… a small little beautiful town… yes… pollution free… know what…there aren’t any forms of petrol-driven vehicles in that town… all vehicles are battery operated… isn’t that cool…

Italy was unique too… the history was rich… it’s full of very old roman buildings… honestly… the structures, the buildings… even the sculptures were magnificent. It was sure an eye-opener when we were touring in Italy… especially the St Peter’s Basilica… the paintings were truly awesome… but…what the thing we miss the most is the gelato ice cream there… when we came back… we went to try the gelato in singapore… it’s really no where near their standard there.. actually it’s kind of disappointing… hee

Enough of my long winded explanations… likewise… we have uploaded the pictures on the net… please follow the link to view them… like I always said, ‘one can only truly feel the excitement and beauty of it by experiencing it personally’. Now we are both already looking forward to another vacation!… hee

Round The Corner

Finally got to see our photo shoot pics… not bad not bad! Putting that aside, we have been hell busy with our wedding prep. Getting this… buying that… writing cards…calling this place… meeting this guy… blah blah blah. Basically one word, CHAOS! We are now looking forward to our honeymoon. Btw, we have chosen Switzerland and Italy as our destination… Waiting eagerly… that will really be the time for us to relax and enjoy ourselves...

Next Sun, we will be having our “Guo Da Li” already… thereafter time will really fly… getting nervous, getting excited and equally stressed… we’re going to keep our fingers crossed and hope everything will turn out fine…

Meanwhile, we are sending our invites. In the midst of it all, some of our friends/ colleagues assumed that it’s a dinner! It’s NOT! It’s a LUNCH! A normal 9-course Sit Down Lunch! So to all our friends and relatives, don’t get mixed up huh. if not, there won’t be anyone receiving you…
Just a gentle reminder:

Our wedding event: Sunday 21st May 06. It will be a lunch. Cocktail starts at 12.00pm. Venue: Merchant Court Ballroom.
Hope to see all there… chao. - Us

lately at home

it's been a month since our last entry. well nothing much happened lately. my wife having recovered from slip disc is now back to work as per normal . Though she has recovered almost 90%, she still feels the ache if she is to strain her back too much in the day... hopefully with all the exercises that she learned from the physiotherapist would help in strengthening the back muscles... taking this into consideration, cant help worrying about the time when she's pregnant... well the therapist mentioned that when she's pregnant, all she could do is to take extra care of herself... he also mentioned that once her muscles are strong enuf, she would probably be able to handle the situation better... ... .

oh yes! 6th mar went for our studio shoot finally. wow!!! very very tiring man...!! we started off with casual wear...it was fun and we were energetic in the beginning... after lunch when we start with our actual wedding gown and suit...wow... we were already half gone... hee but thanks to the photographer, he managed to keep us togther... hee... after our indoor, we went to fort canning and changi beach for our outdoor shoot... now that's another challenge... the photographer made us run up the "hill" in fort canning and along the beach in changi... basically we had all rounded exercises on the 6th mar... with all the posing, running, smiling, etc. by the end of it, both of us were dog tired... so tired that we slept at around 10pm that night... nevertheless, it was great. very enjoyable and fun... hee .. now we cant wait to see the pictures... hope it turns out nice... hee - Ant

Feeling blue...

It’s been more than a month since I was hospitalised, and recovery seems so slow. Of course there are good and bad days but I’ve lost count of the numerous occasions when the frustrations & boredom has threatened to drive me absolutely insane.

Through all these, I’ve realised that there are actually so many things in our every day life that I seem to have taken for granted. There were so many things I was not able to do over this period. Walking, standing and sitting were really difficult initially and I could only lie on the bed without pain. Slowly, as my condition improved, even seemingly simple things were difficult. I didn’t have the strength to push a swinging door open, couldn’t get in and out of the car without difficulty, couldn’t even sit through an entire meal. Even a simple sneeze caused so much pain! We don’t realise that a simple thing like a sneeze actually results in a huge impact on our spine. Over the past few years, I’ve always known that a sneeze can cause my weak back to seize up. People look at me incredulously when I told them that a sneeze caused me to hurt my back again but my doc and physiotherapist were not at all surprised. Unfortunately, to top it all off, I have an ultra sensitive nose

But there is one thing that I’m extremely thankful for – my husband. He has been with me every step of the way, and I really mean every step – physically, mentally and emotionally. . Friends, if they are free, can only give the occasional visit or sms. But my hubby has been with me every day in the hospital, to every physiotherapy session and every doc’s visit… tolerated with all my frustrations and mood swings…. Encouraged me when I was at my lowest low… More than anything, he has shown that there is no one in this world I can depend on except for him, absolutely no one at all. I used to feel guilty when friends tease me for not spending enough time with them. But I will feel guilty no more as my hubby deserves my every thought and every bit of love. No one has any right to blame me for putting my hubby first in everything because that is exactly where he belongs! - Jan

doctor's "verdict"

in my last update, i mentioned about going back to the doctor for review... the verdict is out! sigh... 2 weeks hospitalization leave (but staying at home)...and had to be put on steriods... .
actually she's getting better gradually. but due to her sinus, it always affects her improvement whenever she sneezes. what makes it worst was, it can get real bad if she was caught unaware when she sneezed. According to the doctor, steriods would be able to help her with the sensitivity of her nose and it definitely helps to shrink the disc a great deal. Hopefully with all that, she would be able to recover faster. thankfully, the steriods course is only 6 days. let's hope that she would be able to recover a fair bit by then.

with all the hospitalization leave that she has, on one hand it will be a good time for her to relax... but on the other hand, she's complaining of the boredom that she gets out of it already... poor baby... i hope the cny season would lift her spirit a little...

Improvement

Hi guys and gals, it's sunday and yet i got to work...

How time flies... 2006 and come and now chinese new year is just round the corner... that means it's time for those new year goodies and decoration again... wonder if my wife will be better by then...

anyway...so far she has made some imrpovement... doctor has allowed her back to work on half a day for 2 weeks...and it's been a week since...so far so good... just that by end of her half day, her back if either strain or stiff...and that's when she will need to lie down and rest again...
went for her supposingly last physio session 2 days back... after her therapist assessed her... he commented that he would preferred to see her a couple of times more... I thought that was a good arrangement...at least to keep a tab on her progress... And according to the therapist... her recovery might take as long as 2 to 3 months for a 90 % recovery... he also commented that even if she had fully recovered, she will need to take extra care in the future... Hopefully with all the exercises and some swimming sessions in the future, would help her in building the back muscles... to prevent a relapse...the only way is to be extra careful and to build the back muscles to help strengthen the back... btw...she will be seeing the doctor soon...let's see what arrangement she has for her then... Happy New Year

Hello Friends and Relatives out there, it's a NEW YEAR with a fresh new start.

Lately, my poor wife had a slip disc (3 lumbar spine slip). Condition was quite bad that she has to be hospitalised for 5 days in Mount E. Luckily based on the MRI, she can choose not to have an operation. Couldn't imagine if she has to go thru the op... But still she was bedridden for a week and will need to go thru all those physio and exercises to help her recover and cope with the slip. From not being able to walk/stand nor sit for more than 1 minute, she can now walk for an hour or so. Although she has made some improvement but still needs to lie down whenever it's painful. btw, we have cancelled our trip to Bangkok this month on top of those entertainment that we have booked earlier for the month of december... think back...my poor wife didn't get to enjoy all those and yet have to suffer in the hospital. Thankfully she's so much better now. Hopefully with all those exercises she can recover soon.

A fresh new year...a fresh new start... Hope this year goes well for everyone around us...hope everyone stays happy and healthy... especially for my wife...have a speedy recovery. our wedding is a few months down the road...getting busy soon.

Thanks all friends and relatives for all the well wishes to my wife, you people have an great 2006. - Ant
